Two-Factor Authentication Setup
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your OLY account. Even if someone obtains your password, they cannot access your account without the second factor.
What is 2FA?
When 2FA is enabled, logging in requires:
- Your password (something you know)
- A verification code (something you have — from your phone)
How to Enable 2FA
Step 1: Install an Authenticator App
Download one of these free apps on your phone:
- Google Authenticator (Android / iOS)
- Microsoft Authenticator (Android / iOS)
- Authy (Android / iOS — recommended, supports backup)
Step 2: Enable in Your Settings
- Log in to the OLY system at
https://oly.et - Click your profile picture (top right) → Settings
- Scroll to Security Settings
- Toggle Enable Two-Factor Authentication
- A QR code will appear on screen
Step 3: Scan the QR Code
- Open your authenticator app
- Tap Add Account or the + button
- Select Scan QR Code
- Point your camera at the QR code on screen
- The app will add "OLY (your.email@oly.et)"
Step 4: Verify and Save
- Enter the 6-digit code shown in your authenticator app
- Click Verify
- Save your backup codes somewhere safe (e.g., printed and locked away)
- Done! 2FA is now active on your account
Logging In with 2FA
- Enter your email and password as usual
- You'll be prompted for a verification code
- Open your authenticator app and enter the current 6-digit code
- Click Verify to complete login
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Code not working | Ensure your phone's time is synced (Settings > Date & Time > Automatic) |
| Lost phone | Use one of your backup codes to log in, then reconfigure 2FA |
| No backup codes | Contact IT Admin to reset your 2FA |
| App showing expired codes | Codes refresh every 30 seconds — wait for a new one |
Important Notes
- Never share your 2FA codes with anyone
- Store backup codes securely — they're your recovery method
- Each code can only be used once and expires after 30 seconds
- If you get a new phone, set up 2FA again before wiping the old one
- IT Admin can reset 2FA for your account if needed
Tip: Authy allows cloud backup of your 2FA tokens, so switching phones is seamless.
